Middle East

Dubai Airport

Sheraton Deira Hotel

From a spotters point of you, this hotel is widely thought of as the best hotel at this busy and quite fascinating Middle Eastern airport, being located right under the flightpath of arriving or departing aircraft.

The Sheraton Deira is located around one mile away from the airport. Although the hotel does not operate a shuttle service to/from the terminals, when booking with World of Transport Travel, we always include roundtrip shuttle transport on arrival and departure.

With an excellent roof-top pool and bar area, located on the 6th floor, this hotel makes the perfect place from which to view the varied movements in to Dubai. From here you can easily see the runway and taxiways. Although most rooms do not offer a view of the airport, there are exceptions. On the 4th floor, you need to ask for rooms 454 or 455, whilst on the 5th floor it’s 554 or 555.

All four rooms offer views looking out towards the airport. You will see the approach when the aircraft land towards you. This means that all departures will depart towards you, i.e. right over the hotel. Conversely, when they land over the sea, you will see them arriving past your window & again see them departing out away from you. As a rule of thumb, you will find that the aircraft usually land over the hotel during the night and first thing in the morning. Departures over the hotel will be seen during the main part of the day.

The roof-top pool area is open from 6.30am to 11pm, with all arrivals and departures being seen from there. As a security requirement as well as a courtesy to others, you are requested not to stand within a few feet of the edge of the roof-top area.

It should be noted that the morning heat haze can be a nightmare when trying to read off numbers, although this does ease as the day progresses. When arriving over the hotel, many of the aircraft can be read off with the naked eye, but this is not always the case. A pair of binoculars are therefore very important.

For those people travelling with an SBS, there are British plug sockets dotted around the swimming pool area. As you can imagine this becomes very handy indeed when using them.

If you would like to make a reservation for this hotel, with or without flights, please email us with your requested dates, number of people travelling and number of rooms. We offer bed and breakfast or half board (dinner, bed and breakfast) rates, so remember to tell us which meal plan you require.
