Manchester Airport, is an international airport at Ringway, Manchester, England. In 2011 it was third busiest airport in the United Kingdom in terms of passenger numbers, & the 23rd busiest airport in Europe.
Located off M56 J5 Manchester Airport also has both bus & train stations attached so all means of transport is available to get here. It also has three excellent points to view aircraft from.
1) Multi storey car park Terminal One.
Enter the car park & proceed to Level 11, where you should then park the car & walk up to Level 13. This level is for Car Hire ONLY. Level 11 is under cover so for those “rare” rainy days, that’s the best place to be. Level 12 looks out towards the train station, so you can see nothing from there.
Prices for the car park are as follows:
Up to 30Mins £2.20
Up to 1 hour £4.00
Up to 2 hours £8.00
Up to 4 hours £12.00
Up to 6 hours £18.00
Up to 24 hours £30.00
Lost ticket £30.00
From this car park you can see right across the entire airport & see both runways, so you won’t be misisng anything,
2) Runway visitor park
Located off the M56 J6 and the A538 Wilmslow Road, where it is clearly sign posted & near to The Romper Pub. It has great views across 23R/05L & 23L/05R & is excellent for photography. It has a restaurant on site & also has an Aviation shop. There are no less than four aircraft to have a look at. There is a Monarch DC-10-30 G-DMCA Cockpit section, British Airways Concorde G-BOAC (which has its own hanger to protect it from the elements), BEA Trident 3B G-AWZK, and RAF Nimrod MR.2 XV231.
You can also pre-book to go on the Concorde & Nimrod with prices starting from £13.00 per person
Prices for the RVP are based on per car, not per person.
£3.00 up to 1 hour
£6.00 up to 2 hour
£9.00 up to 3 hour
£12.00 over 3 hours

People who wish to walk in are free and there is a public transport bus that goes from Manchester Airport train station to the RVP.
For SAT NAV users the address is Sunbank Lane, Altrincham, WA15 8XQ or click here to visit the Runway Visitor Park website.
3) The Airport Hotel
This is actually a pub, but has rooms for rent, above the premises. It is located near Terminal Three & has a massive garden at the rear, with a climbing frame for the younger ones. You can see all aircraft arriving & departing fro 23R/05L as well as all down the side of Terminal Three. In addition, you can see departures from 23L.
One word of warning, if aircraft are arriving on 05R you may not be able to see all aircraft vacate the runway if smaller types are going to Terminals One or Two.
Prices for the car park are.
Up to one hour £3.00 (£2.00 of which is redeemable at the bar)

Radisson Blu Manchester Airport
Conveniently located via covered walkways, between Terminals 1, 2 & 3, this hotel offers the best views of Manchester Airport.
Granted, it’s not the cheapest of hotels, but providing we can get you the right room rate (we can offer some very reasonable rates if booked 28 days or more ahead – these are non-refundable rates however & must be made for at the time of reservation), you will not be disappointed with the views. Car parking works out at £12 per 24-hour period, but best of all, you get free internet access whilst staying at the hotel.
The hotel sits just behind & above, Terminal Two, & offers views across the apron, & towards the 23L arrival/departure runway.
A high floor, i.e. 7th & above, & a room with an even number, will get you a view well worth waiting for.
Although all departures/arrivals can be seen, due to the fact that Terminals 1 & 3 are located in the distance & to the left, as seen from the hotel, the use of a SBS would be very helpful. That said, the editorial team had difficulties in picking up movements below 2000ft & on the ground, which we believe is due in part to how the hotel has been built. That said, a bit of perseverance will get you the desired results.
Depending on the weather, you can pick up & see, aircraft arriving & departing at Liverpool & Chester.
If you want to stock up on very reasonably-priced drinks, snacks & other provisions, a visit to the Spar Supermarket, located in each of the terminals, is well worth the effort, due to the excellent prices on offer.
